The Approved IMO Model Course 6.09 Training for Instructors is designed to allow you to relate your knowledge and experience to facilitate, deliver and assess competence standards and courses required by the STCW Convention. For greater value, we also include other educational certificates.

Description

The IMO Model Course 6.09 Training for Instructors is designed to allow you to relate your knowledge and experience to facilitate, deliver and assess competence standards and courses required by the STCW Convention.

This is designed to an international standard published by the IMO, for teaching at all levels, whether you are a DSTO, a senior officer, a short course instructor or teaching the longer foundation degrees.

For greater value, the overlap in subject matter allows us to cross certify for Assessing competence in the workplace, Assessment and Education and Training. 

Prerequisites

Minimum Age: 19 years old

Who is it For?

This course is for instructors who will deliver maritime training, or marine professionals who will begin educating, whether onboard or in a classroom.

The course covers mentoring and coaching, and is ideal for superintendents and senior officers as well as short course trainers and university instructors.

Certification Details

Upon successfully completing the course, participants will earn

  • Certificate of Approved Training for IMO 6.09 Model Course Training Course for Instructors.
  • Level 3 Award in Education and Training (RQF),
  • Level 3 Award in Understanding the Principles and Practice of Assessment (RQF),
  • Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment (RQF),

The certificate does not expire, however refresher training is recommended.

For an extra day, there is the option of adding the IMO Model Course 6.10 Simulator Instructor Course.
